PRIDE: on display
Throughout the country - and around the world - the last weekend in June marks some of the largest gay pride celebrations. Several of the largest cities in the US - such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston - all hold their parades and festivities on that weekend.
Pride festivities tend to be a time to relax, have fun, and be your brilliant, colorful self. This is also the same reason some folks - gay and straight - have come to criticize Pride events.
As you can tell from the pictures that follow, each Pride event is uniquely different. The following pictures come from San Francisco, Mexico City, Seattle, and Toronto.

These sexy mamas were soaking in the sun in Seattle.

In Toronto these soldiers can serve openly without worrying about their sexual orientation or gender identity being an issue.

Quote of the Day: Green Power
Today's Quote of the Day comes from HuffingtonPost.
In a story about Barack Obama's latest television ad in response to the Republican National Committee's McCain "Oil" ad, I found my favorite gem of a quote.
Many of the posts were voicing a hope that Obama would go into more detail about his "green power" solutions. Some folks liked the new commercial, while others thought Obama needed to go a bit farther.
The quote was made by Egalitare.
"The point was to hit back with easy to digest stuff for Joe and Jane Undecided. Even now, too many of those folks think "green power" is one of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers."
Here's the Barack Obama ad they were commenting on.
Young Barack?
Does Barack Obama have a secret life of being a male model? We know he was a community organizer on Chicago's southside but I'm not so sure that he wasn't also a model.

It's hard to tell, isn't it?
MORNING MAIL: Wentworth Miller, Girl Scouts, Maggie Gyllenhaal, McCain, and more...
*
Poor, poor Maggie Gyllenhaal! Promoting her upcoming film, The Dark Knight, she graces the cover of Tatler but something terribly wrong happened in the dressing room. Fug that!
* The Los Angeles Times focuses on the LA Gay & Lesbian Center's - along with the West Hollywood Health department - HIV prevention online soap targeting young gay and bisexual men.
* Pretty boy Wentworth Miller joy riding on hydrogen.
* Sarah Silverman is no longer f*cking Jimmy Kimmel. It's over.
* Sen. John McCain says he doesn't support gay adoption. "I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no I don’t believe in gay adoption."
* The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts has created an HIV prevention toolkit that aims to educate young women worldwide about the disease. At their international launch in Boksburg, South Africa CEO Mary McPhail stated, "We wanted to develop teaching methods which would get the message to young women that they are at risk. We wanted to get across that they can also be responsible for empowering their own lives and making their own decisions."
Now, if only the Boy Scouts could get over their gay bashing to do something as equally impressive. Rock on Girl Scouts! Rock on...
* The Gay Pimp - Jonny McGovern - has a new hit out. This time however he's dedicating the song to the ladies. Check out his new single, Don't Fall In Love With A Homo.

HAND BALL?
Just what was Netherlands' Roy Beerens (right) thinking when he fondled grabbed Belgium's Sebastien Pocognoli? Some pictures are worth a thousand words, others might just be soft core.

Quote of the Day: Critical Mass
It's been a slow day for the Quote of The Day but I did find something that got an immediate reaction when I read it. It comes from my daily favorite Towleroad in response to a video taken during a recent NY Critical Mass event.
"Critical Mass is an obnoxious, trustafarian hanky head bunch of spoiled rich white boys form the suburbs. They need to get a life."
The user goes by Cynical Mass with only a Gay.com email address.
Do with it as you will.
HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE
The long awaited trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released last night. You can get your first look right here at DyerTimes!
HP6 hits theaters on November 21, 2008. Judging by this trailer this movie will likely focus on telling the story of Voldemort - shown in the trailer as the child, Tom Riddle. The trailer neglects any showing of significant characters such as Potions Professor Slughorn or the Half-Blood Prince himself, Severus Snape.
