NEWS: Conjugals, Parades, Brad Pitt & George Clooney
GAY PRIDE JERUSALEM: Police officials recently approved the request for a gay pride parade in Jerusalem on June 21st despite public outcry from religious officials. The event has faced staunch opposition and violence over the years. In 2005, an ultra-Orthodox Jew stabbed and wounded three participants during the Gay Pride parade. He received 12 years in jail.
QUEER CONJUGALS: Move over marriage equality - queers can now enjoy conjugal visits! Well, at least in California. "The new policy states such visits will only be permitted to those registered as domestic partners, and affirms that no prisoners will be allowed overnight visits with other prisoners, regardless of status." California is the first state to allow LGBT people conjugal visits from their same-sex partners.
BRAD PITT & GEORGE CLOONEY TO HELP LAGUNA BEACH GAYS?: The Boom Boom Room is hoping that Pitt & Clooney will make saving the 60 year old gay bar one of their celebrity causes. The bar was sold in 2005 for over $12 million with plans to turn it into a boutique hotel. Those plans are now scrapped and the bar is on the market again and is tentatively slated to stay open until Labor Day. Pitt & Clooney were listed in the first sale by error and now Laguna Beach gays hope these two will hear their call and save the bar. A grassroots campaign has launched an ad in The Daily Variety asking the hunks for help. See sample ad below....

Paris goes home!!
Paris Hilton's attorney, Richard A. Hutton, issued the following statement today following Paris' release to house arrest.
"I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally. I am going to serve the remaining days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes."
The Los Angeles Sherriff's Department has taken tons of heat for what seems like preferential treatment. Paris only served 3 days of her sentence in jail.
Psychiatrist Charles Sophy who checked on in on Paris for the last few days says her condition was mental not physical and that "her mental state was fragile and she was at risk."
Paris will be rocking the Sentinel DualTrak ankle bracelet.
I'm glad that other officials are screaming foul on ths one. The list of celebrities that are in trouble for DUI's is extensive... Shemar Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, George Michael, Mel Gibson, Eve... and the list goes on and on...
Who wants to take a guess at how many "stars of color" get out of jail and released to house arrest for "unspecified health issues"? My guess: 0.
Jake Gyllenhaal: 3 Ways....
I know that I've got a weakness for the Gyllenator! That's why I'm serving up Jake 3-ways tonight. The darling Jake recently posed with a group of fans from Singapore! How nice of him.
The allegations that Jakey might star as Captain Marvel in Shazam! are false. At least according to one source....
And, Jake makes a special guest appearance at Rufus Wainwright's lastest concert at Gramercy Hall in New York City on June 8th. Jake read the spoken word piece of Wainwright's "Between My Legs".
And, just cuz no post would be complete without something soothing on the eyes. Here's two pictures of our hottie, The Gyllenator. First is just a wet Jake borrowing my swimming suit and the other comes from a photo shoot with Jake for Elle.

Same-sex marriage WINS in Massachusetts!!
Today Massachusetts lawmakers made history by blocking a proposed anti-LGBT constitutional amendment effort that would have brought the rights of same-sex couples to the voters of Massachusetts.
The amendment question needed a mere 50 votes to be placed on the 2008 ballot. A harrowing 151 lawmakers voted against the amendment - with only 45 lawmakers voting to approve.

"In Massachusetts today, the freedom to marry is secure," said Gov. Deval Patrick who has been a stupendous supporter of same-sex marriage. He worked right up to the vote to encourage lawmakers to oppose this devisive measure.
Presidential candidate and Former Gov. Mitt Romney called the vote "a regrettable setback" and said it makes it more important now to pass a national amendment banning gay marriage. [Big BOO for Mitt!] I say Romney for A**hole of the year!
MassEquality, the lead organization that worked to defeat this amendment, gave credit for the winning vote to the leadership of Governor Deval Patrick, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray, Senate President Terry Murray and House Speaker Sal DiMasi, who worked tirelessly to defeat this amendment.
Congratulations Massachusetts. You make ALL of us around the country very proud of your hard work and determination. Let's hope that all those homophobes will finally let the 8,500 same-sex couples that have legally married there since May 2004 enjoy their marriages in peace.

PLAYMATE PARIS?: Is Paris Hilton going to be the next Playboy playmate? "Well, that's a standing offer. I think the problem quite frankly is mama. Mama doesn't want her to pose." Hugh Hefner is hopeful that once the drunk driving Paris finishes her jail time she'll consider his offer to rip off her clothes. This time for some cash....
STRANGE BEDFELLOWS: ISAIAH WASHINGTON + ??
Former Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington is getting some help from an unlikely ally. You'll recall that Washington landed himself in a heap of trouble last year when he referred to co-star T.R. Knight as a "faggot." Washington went to rehab, did a queer public service announcment for
His ally? Prominent queer activist Jasmyne Cannick who has previously worked with Washington. Cannick is petitioning for the actor to be reinstated to Grey's Anatomy, and is countering the charges of homophobia on Washington's behalf by firing claims of racism at ABC.
CUBA TO RECOGNIZE SAME-SEX COUPLES
"The political will exists to eliminate all forms of discrimination in our laws," said Mariela Castro during a presentation of the proposed reform. Castro is the director of the governmental National Centre for Sex Education (CENESEX).
Cuba could become the first Caribbean island nation to recognise the civil and inheritance rights of gay and lesbian couples, if a proposed reform of the Family Code is approved.
JAKE STARRING IN BROADWAY THIS FALL?
Jake Gyllenhaal has been offered a part in a new Broadway play this fall called "Farragut North." Last week, Jake went in for a private reading and the show's producer, Jeffrey Richards, has acknowledged the outstanding offer to Jake.
If he accepts Jake will play an idealistic communications director for an unorthodox U.S. presidential candidate. The story is rumored to be modeled after the Howard Dean campaign for U.S. President in 2004.
HILLARY SETS HERSELF APART FROM BILL
Hillary Clinton's campaign recently clarified Hillary's positions on several important LGBT issues. It's thought that she is hoping to set herself apart from her husband who gave us gays "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).
“Senator Clinton believes that each state should make its own decisions regarding marriage or civil unions, but once a state legalizes such relationships, these relationships should receive full federal recognition and benefits,” Ethan Geto, senior national adviser to Senator Clinton on LGBT Issues, explained in an e-mail to The Advocate.
Jake & Reese: No More?
The day had to come eventually. Jake Gyllenhaal finally CAME OUT is a bachelor again. It looks like it's official: Jake and Reese are over. I'd hate to say I told you so. But, I told you so.
Now, the Gyllenator can focus on more important things. Like returning my phone calls again....

NEWS: The Edwards, Russia, & Posh Spice
MARITAL STRAIN?: Is there tension in the Edwards household these days? Presidential candidate John Edwards recently had to read in a newspaper his wife's position on same-sex marriage.
"It's not the only thing we disagree about," the Democratic presidential candidate quipped Monday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
"A lot of people I love and care about feel the same way Elizabeth does," Edwards said. "I'm very strong about ending discrimination against gay and lesbian couples."
Their difference of opinion? Elizabeth is in full support of same-sex marriage. Mr. Edwards only supports domestic partnership/civil unions.
FAREWELL CRUISING! AT LEAST IN RUSSIA...
I've said it before and I'll likely say it again. If you think you've had a bad day consider being queer in Russia. "Orthodox Christian" Russians recently hired a cruise ship to cleanse the Moscow River after a gay cruise ship sailed down the same river days earlier. This same group has organized nightly patrols of the city's "cruising" parks to get rid of the gays.
POSH SPICE is a grade A bitch WINS LIBEL CASE
Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, aaka Ex-Posh Spice, recently won a libel case against Star magazine for undisclosed damages by a London court.
The magazine alleged that the crew from her new US television show "can't stand her" and saw her as "very picky, demanding and rude". Despite the possibity that all claims are based in reality the article was printed before the show was set and crew hired - meaning it was made up.
Check out Victoria's new US show: Victoria Beckham: Coming To America sometime later this year.
See This Film: Sicko
It's not often that I see a film that I believe everyone should go see. I knew that Brokeback Mountain certainly wasn't for everyone. BUT, Michael Moore's new film, Sicko, is a must see.
Regardless of your political party, age, race, and many other factors that tend to keep us all apart rather than unite us we are all affected by a flawed medical system. Whether you've been denied an important operation, drug, or treatment because your insurance company won't approve it or because you've got a pre-exisiting condition that makes you ineligible to get coverage this movie will make an impact. There are over 30+ pages of conditions that will make you ineligible to be covered!
I'd recommend every single person go see this film. We've got an issue in America - and that is our health care system. Individuals should be pushing for a reform of our health care system and certainly business should be pushing for socialized health care because you know what: IT WILL SAVE THEM MONEY. Companies will no longer have to cut workers because of the huge increases each year for insurance for their employees. Imagine that. A plan that helps citizens and is good for business!
Check out the trailer for Sicko... In the Milwaukee area it is playing at the Oriental Theater on Milwaukee's Eastside...
